Automatic guided vehicles (AGVs)

The AGVs drive by freenavigation in the whole area on a 14 km long path.

The maximum speed is 1.6m/sec.

Containers with a load capacity of 500 kg can be transported.

AGV station on the upper floor

To reach an AGV station in one of the upper floors the AGV uses a lift.

The lifts are not only used for AGV transport but also for people.

AGV charging station

For every AGV there is a charging station available. However, the AGV is not restricted to only one charging station. The central computer designates a charging station for each AGV.

Automatical transfer of the container into the container storage

The main cleaning of the containers is carried out by two container washing machines. The positioning of the containers before and after the washing process happens in a container storage area with 300 places.

Storage and retrieval system container storage area

Storage and retrieval system manages the transport of the containers between the conveyer belts in container storage area. The container storage area offers places for 300 containers divided into two levels and is also used as a buffer zone for both dirty and washed containers.

Cool storage area for food containers

The food containers are pre-cooled in the cool storage area before transport.

The temperature in the cool storage area is 10 degrees.

Dispatch of the laundry containers

A dispatch storage area has been installed as central point for sending the laundry containers. Cleaned containers are removed from the storage area, loaded with laundry and returned to the storage area. The delivery to the reception points is individually adapted to the user requirements.

Stainless steel surface

A stainless steel surface withstands both the rugged handling and spills of liquids and chemicals.

The automated guided vehicle (AGV) is loading a cart

The AGV is capable of automatically loading a cart by driving under the cart and raising it off the floor. During the pick up the cart type is verified (RFID technology) then the cart will be brought to the appropriate destination.

Automated guided vehicle moving towards the station

The deployment of contactless safety technology (scanner) makes it possible for Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) to move in passageways which are also used by personnel.

Automated guided vehicle system - Vehicle fleet waiting in front of a supply department

Time-oriented provision of containers shortly prior to food distribution ensures a high level of reliability in the supply.

Automated guided vehicle system - Container prior to the delivery at the destination department

On-time delivery of containers at the station prevents personnel from waiting or machines from lying idle.

Automated guided vehicle system - Complex route with a high vehicle frequency

A superior control system of automated guided vehicle systems monitors and controls the moving vehicles. It prevents collisions which usually happen with manual operation particularly at blind intersections, and increases safety of the material transported, personnel and work environment.

Transfer of a container from an electric monorail system (EMS) to the Automated guided vehicle (AGV) system

Systems with EMS can easily be supplemented with an AGV system. Changing over from an EMS to an AGV system is possible during on-going operation without any risk of supply failure.

The Automated guided vehicle (AGV) takes over the container by lifting it up from the top

The individual technical design of the coupling system on the Automated guided vehicle permits the existing containers to be used.
